After immigrating to Canada from Sri Lanka with my parents in 2001, I have been extremely impressed when looking at the development of civilization in a first world country compared to a third world country. The infrastructure in North America is a marvel in my opinion, the amount of thought put into it by previous generations to ensure all the moving parts of a city were safe, efficient, and scalable was immense to say the least.

This admiration led to my personal interest in design. Just like how it takes research, creative design, and multiple iterations to make the ideal city, the same applies for building digital experiences. 

My journey started at the University of Waterloo where I received my Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering. Soon after it began, I saw myself deviating from the path of engineering by pursuing interests in web development. With that ambition I became a contract front end web developer at RBC and Sun Life Financial. I soon learned about UX after working alongside designers when I was a developer. This interest ultimately transitioned into a full time passion. I applied myself and created my first ever solo case study for a meal prepping mobile app, this landed me my first contract at Ontario Digital Service. From there I continued to work as a contract UX designer at Sonova, R-Labs, and Arctic Wolf Networks where I learned a great deal and refined my UX toolkit.

The next step in my career took me to Toronto's very own Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE)! During my time at MLSE, I had the honour of being a part of the team that completely redesigned the NHL mobile app. This was the largest scale project that I had done, impacting ~30 million unique users all across the globe!

This is what working with me would be like, described in a single run-on sentence: I am constantly bouncing ideas off the team during the research phase, I work independently to get low/high fidelity UX artifacts complete, and I consistently collaborate with all key stakeholders in the testing phase to ensure user goals and business constraints are satisfied.
